I am trying to paint as much as I can at night and on the weekends. Good for the soul.

Kate's Cake

Three days of baking and icing have finally come to an end! I had a blast tweaking homemade cake recipes and icing techniques. Here are some pictures of my work. I think it took me a total of 16 hours. Keep in mind I made 100 cupcakes and a mini cake. I'm including grocery store runs in my time! I didn't think I could go through 4 boxes of butter...

Ready to Work

I've got the goods coming my way in the next few months. This Friday I am making close to 100 monogrammed cupcakes and a mini cake for a child's first birthday. I'm ready to jump in a get busy. I also have 2 more birthday cakes due in November. My plan is to challenge myself to a 'tospy-turvy' cake. Woo-hoo! Should be interesting to say the least.

The Nemo Cake

I made Nemo for my niece's 2nd birthday. This one was my second sculpted cake. I'm sure it will take me a while to get used to that aspect of cake making. I love a challenge. This was loads of fun...I could let my creativity go.

The Skull Cake

This is a cake that I made for a friend of the family, Jeff. This one was particularly special to me because Jeff is an artist too. It was suggested that I use a piece of his art to create the cake - so that is what I did. I would LOVE to do a whole series of Jeff Stewart cakes! I had a lot of fun with this one playing with all of the unknowns. The cake was a huge trial and error process for me. I did not realize the amount of time it would take to get right. You never do though! The great thing about doing what you love is that the time flies by.

Welcome to Fondantopia

Welcome to my Blog! I'm new to the world of blogging. I thought it would be a great way to document my journey through cake decorating.

I am a mother of one and an painter at heart. With a toddler around I decided to change my medium from oils to cakes. I have always had a love for sweets and a slight obsession fondant.

Cake decorating is a newly discovered passion of mine. I have only made a handful of cakes. Enjoy peeking around at what I have made so far. I will continue to post as I continue to bake!
